Dual-Purpose Site Design
Dual-Purpose Site Design
Decision
Way Into AI remains one site with one editorial home: helping a general audience find its way into rapid AI change. It has two equal, clearly named entry routes:
- Use AI (
/use) for practical guides, workflows, tools, and agentic coding. - Understand AI (
/understand) for AI's trajectory and consequences: governance, policy, work, power, safety, and field notes.
The homepage should orient visitors to this shared promise and make the two routes its primary action. Posts and logs remain the chronological archive rather than the main navigation model.
Scope of this change
Create the two route landing pages; revise the homepage copy and calls to action; update navigation; and document the brand direction. The pages will use Flowershow Markdown and curated links to existing work.
Deliberately deferred
- A visual/Tailwind HTML landing-page redesign and new illustrative assets (
wayintoai-89x), after this information architecture is in place. - Migration of the currently minimal ai.lifeitself.org project (
wayintoai-ll4), after the new Understand AI destination exists.
URL decision
Use short URLs, /use and /understand. Adding ai would not materially improve search performance, while short, semantic addresses are more memorable and readable.
